Iraqi Islamic Party lead by Tarek Al-Hashimi issued a statement, rejecting the comments of their human right inspector about Hareth Al-Tharee, saying:
“Some time ago, Sheikh Omar Al-Jobouri , inspector of the human rights in Iraqi Islamic party gave some comments towards Dr Hareth Al-Tharee, the general trustee of the Association of Moslem Scholars in Iraq. The Islamic party is not responsible and not satisfied with what had been said by Sheikh Omar who is not authorised spokesman of the party”
This statement issued after an interview with Sheikh Omar by Radio Sawa. In this interview Sheikh Omar held Dr Al-Tharee responsible for the half of the Sunis killed in Iraq following the defeat of Saddam regime, when he said:
“Hareth Al-Tharee is responsible for 50% of the killing occurred to Sunnis in Iraq, American occupation responsible for 25% and armed militias responsible fr the rest 25%” .
Al-Jobouri demanded during this interview the American forces to stay longer in Iraq. This demand is against this party declared agenda which always call for immediate departure of the American forces from Iraq.
These comments between different rank of the Islamic party show sign of division inside it.
