A security source in Wassit state said today (Tuesday):
“Unknown gunmen detonated (destroyed) Diyala bridge on Diyala river near Al-Rustamyia south of Baghdad which is the connecting the capital and the south eastern states”.
The source indicated that the gunmen detonated this bridge which is located north west of Wassit, last night without clarifications on the how they done it or the size of the damages.
This bridge was previously completely damaged during the war in April 2003. This damag paralysed the traffic and crossing between Baghdad and southern states but reconstructed beginning of 2005.
