Buratha News Agency- 8 August 2006
His holiness Sayed Abdul Aziz al Hakeem, leader of the Iraqi Unified coalitions told the America News Week magazine, that the existent Militia in Iraq has been divided into four types:
- The first type, formed following the occupation of Iraq which is known as establishment protection. The number of this type exceeded thirty-three units, that move freely with weapons as they have Government approval. This militia isn’t disciplined and not under the control of the defence or interior ministry.
- The second type is the armed forces that faced the old regime.
- The third type, are the units that formed in different areas to defend themselves. This type moves unofficially but should be given the right to defend themselves.
- The fourth, are the religious radicals and Baathist (loyal to Saddam) who are attempting to destroy the democracy, freedom and the new equation in Iraq.
His holiness added,
with the first type we support to issue a law to merge them with the defence ministry units.
With the third one, can be treated by applying the idea of public committees in different areas. In the Sunni areas formed mainly by Sunni youths and in same in the Shi’a areas but in the mixed ares, should be mixed they should be connected to the police station in the area and moves according to the policy according to the interior ministry.
With the fourth type this should be faced by all the Government and the three types of Militias as they are the real enemies for the new Iraq.
